"The Bus Ministry"
Many individuals from around the world, have e-mailed me asking what is a bus ministry? I hope that within a few short paragraphs this question can be answered. A Bus Ministry is an outreach of a local church to the inner city. A Bus ministry really consists of one or many buses. These buses are taken care of by a bus crew. A Bus Crew consists of a Captain, a driver, a secretary and several workers. Most of these positions are self explanatory.
The primary person is the Captain of the route. It is his or her service to the local community that actually make the ministry what it is. The Bus Ministry allows the local church to go into local communities and minister to the families and allow them a way to get to church. Part of the responsibilities of the Captain are to visit with the riders, help them in their spiritual walk, counsel them in spiritual matters and to minister to the sick and hurting. Visit them when they are ill or in the hospital, pray with them if they have special needs and go door to door inviting others to church or to a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Each week the Bus Ministry may bring in 20 to 60 people (per bus) to attend church.
