"Names of God"
This was a great study, that was done a few years ago, one I truly enjoyed. I hope you find this information as wonderful as I found it to be in seeking out. The original name given to God in the early writings was YHWH. YHWH is the Hebrew name of God as was revealed to Moses. It consisted of 4 consonants, since the Hebrew language didn't include the vowels in the written texts. With the vowels added the name looked like this YaHWeH.
Adonay is the name that late Judaism used for God, so they wouldn't have to say YHWH, which was considered to Holy for sinful lips to speak.
Jehovah came about by early translators who by error combined the vowels of Adonay with the consonants of YHWH.
On the following pages you'll find a list of the many Names / Titles and Offices the bible gives to The Lord God.
(I'm sure this list probably is not complete, but then, why don't you look into Gods word and see how many you can find?)
